Recall of Elected Representatives

A bill is currently going through Parliament to Permit voters to recall their elected representatives in specified circumstances; and for connected purposes.

If one per cent of registered voters in the constituency of an elected representative sign a notice-of-intent-to-recall petition stating that they have

lost confidence in their elected representative for whatever reason then a recall petition must be made available under section 3

so in Stoke on Trent the average Ward size in 5-6000 so around 60 people will need to request a recall petition, a recall petition will then be made available for all residents of the ward to sign it
The recall petition is successful if the number of persons who validly sign the petition is at least 20% of the number of persons registered in the register of electors for the constituency.
so in Stoke on Trent the average Ward size in 5-6000 so around 1200 people will need to sign the recall petition,
It is only at the start of become law but something we in Stoke must celebrate and support, with all out elections City wide only every 4 years, we need this in place when we lose confidence in our elected representatives
